Your posts always get me to think! Perhaps, Hosea was seeking justification through projection. Language can be a powerful tool. Images, too. As the saying goes: "A picture is worth a thousand words." The video provokes my outrage.
That language creates reality is a fascinating concept! I was thinking about how Hosea might have been angry at his wife and wanted her to be punished. By putting "the language of spousal abuse in the mouth of God", Hosea would be projecting his own emotion and desire onto God. In doing so, Hosea might have felt that his reality was being justified by God.

ReplyDeleteLanguage is a powerful tool. It is often said that language creates reality. I am not sure what you mean by "justification through projection."
